Acting patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church Bishop Pachomius said in a cable to Mursī that the results of the presidential election were expressive of the Egyptian people’s will about consolidating an aspired democracy.

He said that he expects Mursī to maintain the civil nature of an Egyptian state that would guarantee democracy, equality and human rights for all as well as the construction of Coptic houses of worship through a unified law.

Bishop Pachomius said Mursī’s victory in the presidential election would help enhance the rule of law and the constitutional institutions demanded by the glorious revolution of January 25, 2011, wishing him success in the building of Egypt.
