Jirjis Fikrī, in an opinion piece in al-Shurūq al-Jadīd, said that Copts have been living in their ghetto for 30 years for many reasons. However, these reasons lead to one result which is that the church developed an administrative hierarchy similar to that of the state! For instance, the church has an equivalent for the minister of youth and sports (Bishop Mūsá of Youth), minister for justice (Bishop Būlā of Tantā, who is also responsible for personal affairs inside the church).
