Muhammad Badī’, the Murshid (Guide) of the Muslim Brotherhood, in an opinion article in al-Ahrām, said his group seeks the building of a modern democratic state based on citizenship, rule of law, freedom, equality, pluralism in all its forms and types, peaceful rotation of power through the ballot boxes and respect for human rights and basic freedoms.

All Egyptians still have some challenges ahead, including the confrontation of the remnants of the former National Democratic Party (NDP), agents of the dismantled State Security Agency and some businessmen who benefited from the former regime.
