Security forces in Sohag succeeded in controlling what appears to be sectarian strife following the outbreak of an armed brawl between a Muslim family and a Christian family over a piece of land owned by the state. The clashes took place in the village of al-Khizindārīyah in Tahtā Township. The clashes led to the death of 65-year-old, Ayūb Mansūr. Both sides of the conflict saw numerous injuries, both severe and superficial.

Security services were able to separate the two sides and prevent a renewal of clashes. Security forces are investigating the case and the general prosecutor has decided to recruit a medical examiner for an autopsy to explain the cause of death (Nāsir Fū'ād, al-Dustūr, Mar. 22, p. 12). Read original text in Arabic.
