Yesterday morning (May 5, 2013), hundreds of Copts flocked to the Cathedral in al-'Abbāsīyyah to celebrate Easter. Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II welcomed families, clergymen and officials throughout the day. In the evening, Pope Tawadros headed the first Easter Holy Mass at the Cathedral with a number of guests ranging from public and military figures to scholars and delegates of the presidency, under tight security measures around the Cathedral.
