The results of the medical tests on the 6-year-old Muslim child that was allegedly assaulted on January 18 by Nādir ‘Atīyah, a 63-year-old Coptic man, did not indicate that she was sexually assaulted, further, there were no injuries to her body. It is noteworthy that doctor who examined the girl is a niqāb-clad woman and a member of al-Nūr Party.

The general Prosecution of al-Waqf Township in Qena’s Governorate had decided to remand Nādir under custody for four days pending investigation facing the charges of sexually assaulting a child. The child’s parents had filed a report at al-Waqf Police Station. 

The director of Qena Security Department was informed that hundreds of Muslims from al-Marāshdah village have surrounded Abū Fām al-Jindī Church since the incident. The security apparatuses cordoned the church and arrested five of the participants. Consequently, more than two thousand Muslim villagers assembled after arresting ten (al-Yawm al-Sābi’ reported 15) Muslim villagers in light of the events. The crowd prevented the police vehicle from passing and attempted to smash it to get the arrested out.

In Masjid Wasīf village of Ziftá Township, a state of outburst started after a young Coptic women announced her conversion to Islam and married a Muslim young man from the village (Yūsuf Abū al-Wafā and Mīnā Mihanná, al-Dustūr, Jan. 20, p. 2). Read original text in Arabic
