Counselor Muhammad Jubrā’īl, President of Qena Prosecution Office, released the seven suspects in the incidents of al-Marāshdah village of Qena. Clashes erupted when an old Copt, Nādir ‘Atīyah, was accused of assaulting a 6-year-old Muslim girl. Muslims of the village damaged a number of Copts’ property and threw rocks at the church. The Prosecution summoned Archpriest Phillips (Fīlubus) ‘Atīyah of Abū Fām al-Jindī Church and the victims, the stores’ owners.

The mother of the 6-year-old stormed the house of Nādir, took all of his personal belongings and clothes and set them on fire (Mīnā Mihanná, al-Dustūr, Jan. 21, p. 2). Read original text in Arabic
