Mahmūd Nakhlah, lawyer, Coptic activist, and President of the World’s Center for Human Rights, said that the Copts are going to file a lawsuit in the ICC (International Criminal Court) against the deposed President Muhammad Morsi (Mursī) as well as ‘Āssim ʿĀbd al-Mājid, Muhammad Badīʿ, and Safwāt Hijāzī. He stated that he will accuse them of threatening Copts, killing innocent people among them, burning their churches, and insulting their religious beliefs.
He also added that the recent outbreak of sectarian attacks against Copts is to give an impression of destabilization after Morsi’s ouster, to make it seem that he was protecting the Copts. He explained that the main reason for this attack is the participation of Copts in the revolution of June 30, in which 75% of the Christians took part (Sārah Hāmid, Huqūq, Jul. 31).
