After the President announced the dates for the referendum on the 2013 Constitution, on January 14 and 15, Coptic movements have started awareness campaigns to inform average Egyptians of the importance of taking part in the referendum. Pope Tawadros has also stated that the importance of taking part in the referendum is that “it is a step for Egypt’s development and is constitutes a balanced constitution”. Najīb Jibr’īl, the head of the Egyptian Union for Human Rights Organization, stated that the organization is preparing a campaign called “Yes to Our Country’s Constitution” that will visit different governorates in Upper Egypt (Amānī Mūsá, “Copts United”, Dec. 16). Read original text in Arabic.
