Sale of “Charlie Hebdo” and “Libération” to be banned in Egypt?

The Cairo Court for Urgent Matters will hold a meeting headed by Judge Tāmir Riyād on Sunday, in which a possible lawsuit banning the sale of “Charlie Hebdo” and “Libération” is being considered. Ahmad Ibrāhīm Sulaymān, director of the Nidāl Centre for Rights and Freedom, demanded the prohibition of the two newspapers which disrespect the holy Prophet Mohammad. As regards the right to freedom of opinion and expression, he specified that possessing this right does not legitimize the mockery and offense of other people’s holy figures and religions.
