The following paper presents a summary translation of a lecture delivered by Dr. Sāmiyah Qadrī Wanīs, Professor of Sociology and Women’s Studies at ʿAyn Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. The lecture was given at a “Journey of Learning” interfaith conference in Cairo held from June 23^rd to 25^th, 2025. The conference was a joint project of the Centre for Christian-Muslim Understanding and Partnership (Anglican/Episcopal Church of Egypt) and the Center for Arab-West Understanding. It was attended by more than thirty Muslim and Christian leaders and students, CAWU interns, and others.
