Fabian Weinert wrote an extended review of the thesis of German Protestant theologian Matthias Gillé about the life and work of Pope Shenouda III, the late but still influential, and beloved pope of the Coptic-Orthodox church who is widely recognized as the most important Egyptian church leader in the second half of the 20th century.
Gillé used different sources, including interviews and material provided by Arab-West Report (AWR), and former AWR interns as well as an interview with AWR editor-in-chief Cornelis Hulsman.
In Gillé’s close to 1000 footnotes, there are 80 references to Arab-West Report sources. An overview is presented listing the influence of Arab-West Report on his thesis.
