On July 9, Jīhān al-Sadāt, wife of the late Egyptian President Muḥammad Anwar al-Sadāt, passed away at the age of 88 after a long struggle with illness.

The Egyptian Presidency mourned her death with profound grief and sorrow. The Presidency pointed out that she was a role model for Egyptian women by supporting her husband under the most difficult and critical circumstances, until he led the country to achieve the historic October War victory.
