The case of Saint Catherine’s Monastery encroachments on the lands of Sinai and state property, as well as the construction of colonial settlements, is still being handled by the State Council, as the head of the monastery is persistently seizing lands. The monastery seeks to seize 71 plots, only 27 of which are registered as archeological, revealed Major General Aḥmad Rajā’ī ʿAṭīya in an interview with Rose al-Yūsuf.
