In his recent book, From My Old Diaries (Min dafātirī al-qadīma -من دفاتري القديمة ), Grand Imām Aḥmed al-Ṭayyib has collected a series of his articles and interviews that were published in different newspapers and magazines throughout the years of his public ministry as a professor, writer, and religious leader. The book was published by Dār al-Hukamāʾ in 2023.

The following excerpts (pp.257-262) on women’s issues were originally published in interviews with journalist Mirfat ʿAbd al-Tawwāb in Al-Aḥrām newspaper in 2001. In this excerpt, Dr. Aḥmed al-Ṭayyib addressed questions about women in the work place and the permissibility of women and men shaking hands.
