Coptic Egyptian Lawyer, Maurice Ṣādiq on Confiscation of Coptic Christian films

Background:

It was reported that the police arrested several Christian men because of the absence of a license for selling films, but this is unjust, according to Maurice Ṣādiq, a Coptic Christian human rights lawyer. These men have been working in sales of films for a long time, but now all of a sudden they are taken into custody because they are selling religious material. One bad Muslim encouraged a group of Muslims to hate all Christians, so that he could get Victor Yūnān, a Christian, arrested for selling videos concerning biblical material, Ṣādiq says.

Discussion of the trials of MB members before 1995 parliamentary elections

Background:

Former Egyptian Ambassador to Algeria, Dr. Ḥussaīn Aḥmad ʾAmīn says the fact that the military court is looking into this case is due to the regime’s desire to put harsh sentences on the detainees. ʾAmīn does not think there is any true justification for having the military court look into the case. The civil court would be more rapid in terms of judgements, but now the case will be dealt with secretly as the regime fears having the public talk about irregularities of trials or to sympathize with the defendants, says ʾAmīn.
