Despite the temporary calm since the beginning of 2021, French President Emmanuel Macron’s campaign on “radical Islam” and “Islamist separatism” in France hasn’t stopped.  Instead, the temporary calm has perhaps come to contain the outrage that Macron’s statements provoked when he stated that “Islam is in crisis.”  He has subsequently backed off of that position, saying that what he said was mis-understood.
