President Mubarak’s rebuilding order will bring back the demolished building belonging to the Bishopric of Shubra Al-Kheima, but will it stop any recurrence of like events anywhere in Egypt? We have heard of no investigation on the event, of no questioning of those behind the demolition order or of those who turned a blind eye to its execution, and we will probably hear no more to that effect. It has become customary for the authorities, when disputes arise concerning churches and anything relevant to them, to remedy the wrong done without asking any questions or taking any official to account.
