“Al-Muntakhab [The Select or The Selected]” is the first Egyptian-English translation of the Qur’an. It is considered one of the greatest references with respect to the explanation of the Qur’an. The Ministry of Awqaf charged a gynecologist who lives in America to translate it into English. It seems that he used a European edition of the translation of the Qur’an as a reference and did not consider the opinions and researches of the Egyptian scholars. The result was many translation mistakes that deformed the image of Islam.
