The American University in Cairo put a condition on its application that prospective female students should not wear the niqab or the face cover. Deputies in the Egyptian parliament, including the Muslim Brotherhood deputies, submitted a request of information to Dr. Moufid Shihab, the minister of education, concerning the university’s stand. They have asked the Education and the Scientific Research Committee and the Religious Affairs Committee to meet to discuss this thorny issue.
