More than once over the past 10 months did I write about on the ridiculous errors committed by civil register personnel and cheekily attributed to ‘computer error’. The problem has recently grown since the government began issuing computerized personal status papers. Quite a few Copts have complained that they found themselves registered as Muslims on their new computerized birth certificate or identity cards.
