The Islamic Jihād leader Yāsir Sa'd announced that a number of Islamic Jīhad members support presidential hopeful Ahmad Shafīq, former Prime Minister, in the coming presidential elections.
He said that voters have a choice between a civil state represented by Shafīq and a religious state represented by his rival Muhammad Mursī, the Freedom and Justice Party's candidate.
Moreover, Sa'd warned that giving power to the MB would mean abandonement of the principle of separation of powers and the handover of power to the MB's Supreme Guide.
"The MB is more dangerous than Shī'ah rule in Iran, because they would rule without fiqh (knowledge),” says Sa'd. "Whoever opposes them would be religiously charged as a 'sinner' rather than just a political opponent."
