Yemeni people are the last victims of the Arab Spring. In the aftermath of the Arab Spring, people filled the streets of Yemen, demanding change in the regime of the government of Ṣāliḥ.

The wide national uprising against ʿAlī ʿAbd Allāh Ṣāliḥ was also representing minority groups such as the Ḥūthī movement. They managed to overthrow the president, who moved to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment. The elections were held and a new president was elected. However, the fragmentation within the Ḥūthī group ahead of the elections led to their failure to win because they were not able to elect a president who represents the totality of Yemeni people.
