The following text contains sensitive information and highlights various concerns from an Egyptian ambassador regarding foreign influence on political and environmental decisions and movements in Egypt. A lot of the content regards European countries, a focus on questionable Dutch decisions in the period the Muslim Brotherhood tried to come to power. The Netherlands is only an example of what also other countries have done in regard to Egypt. Western countries seem to have banked on the Brotherhood coming and remaining in power and thus joining the winning side. One could call this opportunistic. This attitude towards political Islamists even remained after President Mursi [Mursī] was ousted on July 3, 2013. Many Egyptians in leading positions were frustrated and angry about this in 2013-2014. This is no longer the case since it is now clear to these Western countries that president al- Sisi [al-Sīsī] has created a stable government that is no longer likely to be replaced by an Islamist regime.
