During his recent visit to Cairo, Robert Satloff, the executive director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy [WINEP], attended two symposia at al-Ahrām Center for Political and Strategic Studies and the Center for Political Research and Studies at Cairo University. In his speech at the symposia, Satloff discussed his book, ’Among the Righteous: Lost Stories from the Holocaust’s Long Reach into Arab Lands,’ in which he included stories about Arabs who saved the lives of hundreds of Jews during World War II. Stating that the Holocaust was not merely a German crime, Satloff blamed all governments, including some in the Arab world, which he said turned a blind eye to the Holocaust, thus passively accepting it.
