President Muhammad Mursī said that Egypt can protect diplomats on its lands and in its embassies. He added in a press conference in Brussels with the President of the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union (EU), José Manuel Barroso, that Egypt is now undergoing a democratic transition.

Barroso, for his part, announced that the EU will save five billion euros to support investment in Egypt, affirming respect for Islam and condemnation of hatred against religions.
