The deputy imām of al-Azhar, Dr. Muḥammad al-Ḍūwaynī, said that it is strange for us to talk about human beings in an era that is lacking in humanity, or to talk about structure in a time when gangs are spreading sabotage and destruction, adding that, “The humanity that is claimed by Western civilization has died, or it has been confirmed to be a false humanity. Every day, we are witnessing scenes of killing and intimidation of the innocent and weak, including children, women, and the elderly from the people of Gaza, without the budging of the conscience of contemporary civilizations.”
