Jawzīf Malāk a human rights delegate for the state of minorities with the United Nations reported that there is a fear that the Wādī al-Riyān Monastery crisis is escalating between the two parties and the rights organizations that are becoming involved in the matter. Malāk demanded that the state become involved in the matter through judicial proceedings to determine its ownership and official archeological status.
